Kuopio Conservatory operates in six locations around the Northern Savonia region.

Kuopio

In Kuopio, a vast number of our activities take place at the Kuopio Music Centre. Other significant teaching locations include Haapakulma, Kotkankallio, Hermanni and Petonen. Our administration staff operates mainly at the Kuopio Music Centre. 

Both music and dance studies are offered in Kuopio: we offer early age music and dance education, basic and advanced level studies in classical and rhythm music, ballet and contemporary dance, as well as upper secondary level vocational training in music.

In addition, we co-operate with several schools and kindergartens in Kuopio.

Juankoski

Juankoski department of Kuopio Conservatory was established in 1983. 

In Juankoski we offer early age music education (music playschool and preparatory studies), basic and advanced studies in both classical and rhythm music, early age dance education and basic dance studies in contemporary dance.

At the moment, the following instruments can be studied: piano, violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet, classical guitar, brass instruments, recorder, electric guitar and electric bass. We co-operate firmly with local associations and operators.

Lapinlahti

In Lapinlahti we offer early age music education (music playschool and preparatory studies), and basic and advanced studies in classical and rhythm music.

Teaching is offered in the following instruments: piano, violin, viola, cello, classical guitar, flute, accordion and voice (rhythm music).

Nilsiä

Nilsiä department was established in 1976. We also operate with Rautavaara municipality. We offer tuition in early age music education (music playschool and preparatory study of music), basic and advanced studies in classical and rhythm music, early age dance education (children’s dance and preparatory study of dance) and basic studies in contemporary dance.

We offer teaching in the following instruments: piano, accordion, violin, viola, flute, clarinet, percussion instruments, electric guitar, electric bass and drums (rhythm music). 

We co-operate with Koillis-Savo alueopisto (community college). 

Siilinjärvi

Siilinjärvi department has long traditions that date back to 1973. Since 2014 the department has operated at Innocum in Harjamäki. There are about 100 active students in basic music education in Siilinjärvi. In early age music education there are about 70 participants. Siilinjärvi department supports making music together with others from early on. There is also a string orchestra Jouhevat. In addition to Jouhevat, students also have the possibility to take part in string orchestra and AmKo-Sinfonia orchestra in Kuopio. The department co-operates actively with schools, nursery homes and other operators in the cultural sector.

In Siilinjärvi, it is possible to study in

  • early age music education (music playschool and preparatory study of music)
  • basic and advanced studies (classical and rhythm music studies)

We offer teaching in the following instruments: violin, cello, guitar, flute, piano, french horn, voice (classical or rhythm music), electric guitar, electric bass and drums. Some of the activities might take place in Kuopio. Student selection for classical music studies takes place every spring in Harjamäki and for rhythm music studies student selection is arranged in Kuopio.

Suonenjoki

Suonenjoki department was established in 1973 and music playschool activities started in 1980. In Suonenjoki, we offer early age music studies (music playschool and preparatory study of music) and basic and advanced studies in classical music. Our instrument selections includes: piano, violin, cello, flute, guitar and voice (classical).
