The Vocational upper secondary qualification in Music (180 competence points) provides basic professional skills and a general eligibility for higher education. Applying to study in the Vocational education and training in Music is done either in the continuous admission or in the joint application system.&nbsp;The vocational upper secondary qualification studies take from 2-3 years depending on the educational background of the applicant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We require a strong musical foundation (instrumental or vocal skills, music literacy skills) from applicants.&nbsp;Applicants must have finished at least primary school. Application must include a certificate of Finnish skills in case Finnish is not applicant\u2019s native language. We accept the following certificates:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Certificate of education accomplished in Finnish (primary school, vocational education, high school)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>National Certificate of Language Proficiency (YKI3, proficiency scale B1.1\u2013B1.2)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Certificate of immigrant\u2019s integration training (proficiency scale B1.1\u2013B1.2)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Certificate received of Higher Education Preparatory Programme for Immigrants<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note that without acceptable certificate attached to the application we will not send an invitation to the entrance examination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The National Certificate of Language Proficiency can be obtained by completing the YKI test. Tests are organized by Kuopio Adult Education Centre (Kuopion kansalaisopisto), for example. The applicant pays for the certificate himself\/herself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If it is noticed during the studies that the student\u2019s language skills are not sufficient to complete the degree despite the support measures or certificates, the goal of the studies can be changed to complete vocational qualification units.
